Teaching and Research
Professor Alemán teaches courses in comparative politics, political institutions, and Latin American politics at the University of Houston.
He specializes in the comparative analysis of political institutions and Latin American politics. His current work focuses on executive-legislative relations, parliamentary procedures, and agenda control in Latin American legislatures. He is also interested in how electoral incentives influence legislative behavior.

Professor Alemán has published articles in such journals as World Politics, Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Studies, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Electoral Studies, Latin American Politics and Society, and Latin American Research Review.
